How To Find Us You will find The Brittany Cottages on Madeline Island, two and a half miles off shore in the middle of Lake Superior, surrounded by the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The Islands are known for their rugged seascapes and pristine environments. Plan to come with your car so you can enjoy all of Madeline Island. Visit the other 21 islands with your own boat or by water taxi or the Island Princess cruise boat. Please visit the Madeline Island Ferry Line's (www.madferry.com) web site for complete ferry schedule. The Island is 75 miles east of Duluth, MN and 50 miles west of Ironwood, MI. We are 220 miles from the Twin Cities and 400 miles from Chicago. Commercial airlines serve Duluth, MN and private planes use our 3000 ft. paved and lighted airport year-round. Estimates for driving time are: from Chicago, 8 hours, from Milwaukee, 7 hours, from Madison, 6 hours, and from the Twin Cities, 4 hours. Specifically, if you are an arriving guest at Brittany Cottages, you will find us on the Island as follows: when you leave the ferry dock, turn right onto Main Street. Follow Main Street through town until it jogs left, and then right, at the Marina. At the jog right it becomes Old Fort Road. From that point, go up the hill half a mile, past the golf course to our driveway, marked by a large rock planter box on the right. There is NO SIGN saying "Brittany Cottages". The sign in the planter box says "Coole Park, Beth and Alan Fischlowitz, Private". This is done to protect your privacy as well as ours.
